Volunteers make the difference at TGIS Dances. They make the dances safe, friendly, and more comfortable. Over 120 volunteers currently contribute their time. Dance staff coordinators are instrumental in overseeing the volunteer staff. Every dance is supported by more than 25 volunteers who help on a nightly basis by staging TGIS events, planning, setting up, decorating, tearing down, passing out |

| literature, serving cake on the monthly Birthday night, and various other tasks. Volunteer staffers receive free admission for one hour of help at the dance. TGIS has evolved into a premier dance event by suggestions from staff and customers, such as suggestions for new locations, bands, and event themes. Through listening to our customers and recommendations from staff, TGIS Dances became the first smoke-free dance environment.
